Caribbean Institute for Meteorology & Hydrology

Technical Officer I (Meteorology)

 

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified nationals of CARICOM states for the post of Technical Officer I (Meteorology) at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH), Husbands, St. James, Barbados.  CIMH is a regional tertiary level training, research and development organization that is affiliated with the University of the West Indies.

 

DUTIES

The successful candidate will be required to:

 

·                 Conduct training primarily in the Mid-Level and Entry-Level Technician programmes in Meteorology taught by the Institute;

 

·                 Assist in the research and development activities of the Institute;

 

·                 Represent the interest of CIMH at regional and international meetings and workshops; and

 

·                 Support CIMH’s public outreach programme.

 

qualifications:

 

A B.Sc. degree in either Meteorology, Mathematics or Physics and at least 5 years experience in operational Meteorology.

 

Or

 

A WMO Senior Level Technician or Class II certification in Meteorology along with at least 7 years experience in operational Meteorology.

 

A working knowledge of either Climatology, Computer Science, Statistics or Hydrology would be an asset.
